American Gods Synopsis
American Gods surrounds the character of Shadow. Incarcerated for 3 years, Shadow is a taciturn convict waiting patiently for his return to the real world. A man hardened by circumstance, his only desire is to reunite with his wife Laura (McCabe) Moon. But Shadow is released earlier than expected, only to learn his wife and his best friend have been killed in an accident.
Broken, untethered and filled with regret, Shadow accepts a job from a stranger on his way home, Mr. Wednesday. As a bodyguard for Wednesday, Shadow realized Mr. Wednesday knew more about his life than he thought. Together they travel across America visiting strange places and people.
Shadow quickly learns that the past never dies and secrets never stay hidden and dreams, legends, and myths are much more real than he thought.
Wednesday is recruiting the American manifestation of the ‘Old Gods’ of legends and ancient mythology. Over the years their power has dwindled as new threats arrived throughout our advances in time. But the Old Gods are needed to fight the New Gods such as modern life – the internet, media and modern transport. During Shadows journey he meets many mythical creatures some of which are able to help him regain some peace in his life.
A war is coming being the old Gods and the New which side are you on?
